Built as a jail in Sultanahmet in 1917 the building was tendered to Sultanahmet Turizm A.Ş. for use as a hotel by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in 1992. Sultanahmet Turizm A.Ş. was granted the right to use the hotel for 49 years with the agreement made with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The hotel’s name was changed to Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahment in 1994 with the agreement signed with the Four Seasons.

The project for increasing the number of rooms of Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet to 111 by adding 46 new rooms to its existing 65 rooms is currently in progress and is planned to be completed by 2012.

Opened for service in 1996, Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet was awarded many rewards and honors for its flawless service and top level qualities. Conde Nast Traveler magazine in 2005 and Travel&Leisure magazine in 2007 chose Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahment as the best hotel in Europe. Highly appreciated since its opening date, Four Seasons Hotel Sultanahmet has been awarded with 36 rewards up to today.
